The tour itinerary: Your master adventure in Northern Thailand
Day 1: Arrival in Chiang Mai – Welcome to the Rose of the North
We'll pick you up at the airport and take you to our tour hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the old city or relax by the pool. In the evening, we'll choose a nice restaurant in the old city to get to know each other before strolling through the famous night market.
Tag 2: Chiang Mai - I'll Be There For You (Doi Inthanon)
After breakfast, we head straight into the world of giants. Our first stop: an elephant camp, which we reach in style via a suspension bridge. Afterwards, we'll embark on a winding drive across the mountain range of Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest peak (2,565 m). The real adrenaline rush comes after lunch: in just 30 kilometers, we'll climb 2,000 meters on an extremely steep section that takes us all the way to Khun Yuam.
Day 3: Khun Yuam to Pai – winding roads & cave worlds
Today is all about the joy of driving. We'll turn onto small roads, cross a river, and visit a Long Neck Karen village. Another highlight is a tour of Southeast Asia's largest cave system. In the late afternoon, we'll reach the lively town of Pai, where we'll enjoy the evening on the legendary Walking Street.
Day 4: Pai to Thaton – The 750-curve chase
Prepare yourself: Over 750 curves await us in the next 100 km alone! The route through the mountains to Chiang Dao is among the most spectacular Thailand has to offer. Along the border with Myanmar, we climb to Doi Angkhang before an extremely steep descent takes us down to the plains near Thaton.
Day 5: Thaton to Mae Sai – The Gateway to the “Middle Kingdom”
We follow winding roads along the Burmese border to Doi Mae Salong. This mountain village, founded by Chinese exiles, with its tea plantations and unique atmosphere, transports us to another world. After visiting the Chinese-influenced market, we continue on to Mae Sai, Thailand's northernmost city.
In principle, it is possible to cross the border into Myanmar on foot – however, this is currently not possible due to the political situation and the ongoing civil war.
Day 6: Mae Sai to Chiang Rai – The Golden Triangle
Today we travel at a relaxed pace towards the legendary Golden Triangle, the historically significant place where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet. A speedboat takes us swiftly across the Mekong River directly into the heart of the Golden Triangle. Afterwards, we visit the Opium Museum, which offers fascinating insights into the region's turbulent past.
In the afternoon, a well-maintained road leads us onward to Chiang Rai. We end the day in style – the food court at the Night Bazaar invites us to sample a wide selection of local specialties and linger awhile.
Day 7: Chiang Rai – Pit stop (rest day)
Today we're taking it easy. A well-deserved day of rest and rejuvenation in Chiang Rai. Use the time for a traditional Thai massage, relax by the pool, or explore the city's cafes and temples on your own.
Day 8: Chiang Rai to Pua – The legendary 1148 (Biker Heaven)
Today is an absolute treat. After visiting the "White Temple," the road is ours. We're riding Road 1148 – officially one of the top 10 most beautiful motorcycle routes in the world. Perfect asphalt, hardly any traffic, and endless curves lead us through spectacular mountain scenery to Pua.
Day 9: Pua to Nan – Salt & Border Trails
Breathtaking roads lead us to the Huai Kon border checkpoint in Laos. In Bo Kluea, we experience the over 800-year-old tradition of salt production. We reach our hotel in the provincial capital of Nan via stunning mountain passes and first-class motorcycle routes.
Day 10: Nan to Na Noi – The Lonely Ridge Ride
Today's drive takes us along lonely, majestic mountain roads along the Laotian border. It's a region of profound silence and breathtaking vastness. To conclude the day, we'll visit Sri Nan National Park with its bizarre rock formations before checking into Na Noi.
Day 11: Na Noi to Sukhothai – The Great Crossing
Around midday we reach the enormous Sirikit Reservoir. We watch the fishermen on their stilt houses and then cross over by ferry – a relaxing experience before we reach the historic royal city of Sukhothai.
Day 12: Sukhothai to Mae Sot – Time travel in Khmer style
In the morning we explore the impressive temple ruins of Sukhothai (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Afterwards, we continue our journey, passing waterfalls and hot springs, until we reach Mae Sot, a vibrant border town with a strong Burmese influence.
Day 13: Mae Sot to Mae Sariang – Along the border river
After a visit to the colorful border market of Mae Sot, today's leg of our journey takes us along the Nam Yuam River, which forms the border. The route is lined with lush greenery and small villages. We arrive in Mae Sariang early – perfect for a relaxing massage or a refreshing dip in the pool.
Day 14: Mae Sariang to Chiang Mai – The grand finale
On our return journey to Chiang Mai, we enjoy the full experience one last time: picturesque landscapes, hot springs, and hidden waterfalls. Back at our starting point, we celebrate the end of our adventure with a final dinner together and reminisce about our experiences.
Day 15: Chiang Mai – Farewell to Thailand
Transfer to the airport and individual onward journey home. You'll depart with a host of new friends and unforgettable memories.
