Daily Itinerary: Guided Motorcycle Tour
Day 1. Arrival day in Chiang Mai
We'll pick you up at the airport and take you to our tour hotel in the heart of Chiang Mai. Depending on your arrival time, you can explore the old city or relax by the pool. In the evening, we'll choose a nice restaurant in the old city to get to know each other before strolling through the famous night market.
Day 2. Chiang Mai – Khun Yuam (ca. 250 km)
After breakfast, we head straight into the world of giants. Our first stop: an elephant camp, which we reach in style via a suspension bridge. Afterwards, we'll embark on a winding drive across the mountain range of Doi Inthanon, Thailand's highest peak (2,565 m). The real adrenaline rush comes after lunch: in just 30 kilometers, we'll climb 2,000 meters on an extremely steep section that takes us all the way to Khun Yuam.
Day 3. Khun Yuam – Mae Hong Son – Pai (ca. 220 km)
Today we're not just in for pure driving pleasure, but there are also plenty of sights to see. Our route takes us to a small Karen village (Long Neck), which we'll visit after a 10-kilometer detour along a small road and across a river. We'll also have the chance to admire the largest stalactite cave in Southeast Asia. In the late afternoon, we'll reach Pai, which has become an extremely popular tourist destination in recent years. After checking into our bungalow complex, we'll explore the town, where we're sure to find some delicious treats at the night market.
Tag 4. Chiang Dao – Thaton (about 250 km)
The journey continues through the fascinating mountain landscape of northern Thailand. Over the next 100 kilometers, more than 750 curves guarantee pure driving pleasure. From Chiang Dao, we travel along remote roads up to Doi Ang Khang, right on the border with Myanmar. A steep mountain pass then leads down to the plains and on to Thaton, our destination for today.
Tag 5. Thaton – Doi Maesalong – Mae Sai (ca. 150 km)
We follow winding roads along the Burmese border to Doi Mae Salong. This mountain village, founded by Chinese exiles, with its tea plantations and unique atmosphere, transports us to another world. After visiting the Chinese-influenced market, we continue on to Mae Sai, Thailand's northernmost city.
In principle, it is possible to cross the border into Myanmar on foot – however, this is currently not possible due to the political situation and the ongoing civil war.
Day 6. Mae Sai - Chiang Rai (approx. 140 km)
Today we travel at a relaxed pace towards the legendary Golden Triangle, the historically significant place where Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar meet. A speedboat takes us swiftly across the Mekong River directly into the heart of the Golden Triangle. Afterwards, we visit the Opium Museum, which offers fascinating insights into the region's turbulent past.
In the afternoon, a well-maintained road leads us onward to Chiang Rai. We end the day in style – the food court at the Night Bazaar invites us to sample a wide selection of local specialties and linger awhile.
Tag 7. Chiang Rai – Nan via Road 1148 (approx. 260 km)
Today, culture meets exhilarating curves! First, we'll visit the legendary 'White Temple', then one of the world's best motorcycle routes awaits us: sweeping mountain landscapes, hardly any traffic, and plenty of curves. A short cultural interlude at a small temple with ancient murals rounds off the ride before we relax by the pool at our resort in Nan.
Day 8. Nan - Phayao (ca. 250 km)
Today we drive through national parks and along lush green rice paddies towards Phayao on the lake. We'll reach Phayao on fantastically well-maintained roads, where lunch will be served at a local restaurant. After checking into our hotel, right on the lake, we'll take a short boat trip to a Buddhist island, where we can learn a little about Buddhist rituals.
Day 9. Phayao – Chiang Mai (ca. 200 km)
Today's leg of the journey takes us through a stunning national park. Picturesque coffee villages dot the route before the final winding stretch leads us back to Chiang Mai. We arrive in the city in the early afternoon – perfect time to relax at the hotel or treat ourselves to a massage. In the evening, we'll all gather for a farewell dinner to celebrate this unforgettable tour.
