Entry to Thailand for Your Motorcycle Tour
All entry information 2026/27 for your guided motorcycle tour – simply explained, up-to-date, and field-tested.
Overview: Entry Requirements for Motorcycle Travelers
On this page, you will find all the information you need to enter Thailand if you are participating in one of our guided motorcycle tours. The focus is on practical application: What do you really need – and what should you pay special attention to as a motorcyclist?
In brief: You need a valid passport, the appropriate driver's license (incl. an International Driving Permit under the 1968 Convention), the digital entry form (TDAC/ETA), and a return or onward travel ticket. On this page, we explain each point step by step.
Required Documents for Your Motorcycle Tour
| Document | Details | Why is it important for the tour? |
|---|---|---|
| Valid Passport | Valid for at least 6 months beyond the date of entry. | Required upon entry, hotel check-in, and possibly for motorcycle rental. |
| National Driver's License (Motorcycle) | Valid motorcycle class (e.g., A, A2) from your home country. | Basis for the issuance and recognition of the International Driving Permit. |
| International Driving Permit (1968 Model) | Obtainable at your local licensing office; ensure it is issued according to the 1968 Convention. | The 1968 IDP allows you to ride legally in Thailand as a tourist – usually for up to 3 months. |
| Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC/ETA) | Digital entry form to be completed online before arrival. You will receive a QR code. | Scanned upon entry, replacing the former paper arrival card. |
| Return or Onward Ticket | Confirmation of flight or onward travel, ideally printed and stored digitally. | May be requested by passport control to prove your planned departure. |
| Health & Travel Insurance | Coverage in Thailand and explicitly including motorcycle riding. | Highly recommended, as medical costs and repatriation can quickly become very expensive. |
To participate in our tours, you do not need a Thai driver's license as long as you are traveling as a tourist with a valid national license and a 1968 International Driving Permit.
TDAC/ETA: Completing the Entry Form Step-by-Step
The former paper entry card has been replaced by a digital system. Ideally, you should fill out the entry form (often referred to as TDAC or ETA) online a few days before arrival. You will then receive a QR code to present upon entry.

Important Note: Protection Against Scams
Please pay close attention to the following points when filling out your entry form (TDAC/ETA) to avoid falling for fraudulent websites:
- Registration is FREE: The Thai government does not charge fees for the digital entry form. If a website asks for money (often between €30 and €80), you are likely on an unofficial third-party site.
- Check the URL:
The official address always ends in
.go.th. Be especially cautious of addresses with suffixes like.com-travel,.org/visa, or similar. - No Credit Card Data Required: Since the form is free, the real government site will not ask for credit card or bank details.
- Our Tip: Exclusively use the link we send you in your booking confirmation to ensure you land directly at the Thai Immigration Bureau.
Special Notes for Tour Participants
- Make copies/photos of your passport, national driver's license, and IDP, and store them in a cloud or email.
- Check your travel insurance: Motorcycle riding should be explicitly insured, ideally with sufficient coverage.
- We recommend bringing printed copies of all booking documents (tour confirmation, hotel address, emergency numbers).
- For any organizational questions regarding entry, TDAC/ETA, and licenses, you can contact us anytime – we support you before and during the trip.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Do I need a visa for a 10 to 15-day tour?
For most European citizens, a separate visa is not required for tourist stays of a few weeks. Conditions vary by nationality; we will inform you during the booking process.
Is my national license enough, or do I need an IDP?
To participate in our tours, we strongly recommend the International Driving Permit under the 1968 Convention in combination with your national license. This ensures you are properly covered during checks and in case of insurance claims.
What if I didn't complete the entry form in time?
In many cases, the form can still be completed shortly before entry. To avoid stress and waiting times, you should complete it in advance. If unsure, contact us – we're here to help.
